Pick a video and get a file of 25 MB or less. Gmail and Yahoo Mail describe their 25 MB limit as the total size of attached files. Your video never leaves your device.
Upload limits
| What | Limit | Plan | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email attachments (total) Total of all attachments in one email, personal accounts. Above the limit Gmail replaces the attachment with a Google Drive link. Work and school limits are set by the administrator. | 25 MB | Free | Official source |
| Email attachments (total) Sum of all attachments in one message, incoming and outgoing. | 25 MB | Free | Official source |
How it works
- Choose a video — or drop it on the tool. It is opened in your browser, not uploaded.
- The tool reads its length and resolution and calculates the bitrate that fits the target.
- It re-encodes the video on your device and lowers the resolution only if needed.
- If the result is over the limit, it runs another pass. Download the file that fits.
Didn’t fit? What to do
- Sending from Outlook.com, iCloud Mail or Proton Mail? They count the whole message, and attachments grow by about a third when an email is sent: use the email page, which targets 14 MB.
- Gmail turns attachments over 25 MB into a Google Drive link; compress first if the recipient needs the file itself.
- Attach one video per email: the limit covers all attachments in a message together.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Gmail attachment size limit?
25 MB for personal accounts, for all attachments in one email combined. Bigger files are added as a Google Drive link instead.
Why did my 25 MB video bounce from Outlook.com?
Outlook.com's 25 MB covers the whole email: text, inserted and attached files. Email also encodes attachments as text (base64), which makes them about a third larger. A 25 MB video therefore cannot fit; the email page targets 14 MB for that reason.
Will the quality drop?
Only as much as needed: the tool picks the highest bitrate and resolution that fit in 25 MB. An MP4 already under 25 MB is kept as it is.
